As the Volvo Ocean Race fleet finally reach their natural environment in the Southern Ocean, the hammering that the crews have taken in the three days since the Leg 5 start last Sunday must have rendered their recollections of that short but popular stopover in Auckland a distant and hazy memory.

Crosbie Lorimer was in Auckland for the stopover and like many in the media enjoyed the frenzied activity of those few days and the New Zealanders' impressive welcome and farewell to the fleet. Here are some of Crosbie's recollections in images.
