Closure of the Darling River at Menindee. This extended order remains in place until further notice.
As a result of significant inflows into the Darling River from upstream, at 9.00 am on Friday 17 February, 2012, the NSW SES issued a River Closure Order for sections of the River. This action has been taken as a public safety and property protection measure, utilising the provisions of the NSW State Emergency and Rescue Management Act 1989 (as amended).
The NSW SES is closing the Darling River at Menindee to users as follows:
Between Texas Downs and Menindee Weir 32.This closure remains in place and includes:
§ All forms of motorised boating (recreational and commercial).
Emergency Services and NSW Maritime personnel are permitted to access the river for emergency operations and enforcement.
This order is now extended and this closure remains in force until revoked. An update will be provided by2.00pm on Friday, 30th March 2012. The generic advice provided by the SES regarding flood safety remains valid and relevant.
