The Australian O’pen Cup is set to take place next month, with over 40 sailors already entered.

Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club has been selected to host the 2012 Australian O’pen BIC Cup. The 4 day regatta will be held over the Easter weekend in April 2012, it will be the third annual Australian O’pen Cup and over 70 boats are expected from Australia and New Zealand for this year’s regatta. O’pen Cup’s put an interesting twist on sailing and are anything but just another junior sailing regatta. The Australian International O’pen BIC Class Association really mix things up with point score racing mixed in with freestyle and adventure races. For more info about the regatta check out www.opencup.com.au or www.nyrc.com.au

About the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club:
For the past two years the NYRC has been a finalist in the Australian Yachting Awards, Promotion of the Sport of Sailing. Their Youth Sail Program is a standout amongst youth development programmes nationally, Youthsail not only provides a brilliant format for the development of youth sailors and racing but also provides wonderful mentoring opportunities for youth instructors and coaches, a program that works in perfectly with the concept of the O’pen BIC.

About the O’pen BIC:
The internationally acclaimed and awarded O’pen BIC Dinghy caused a storm when it was released in 2006 and has gathered plenty of momentum since hitting the World scene. A wind of change is what the O'pen BIC has brought to the world of dinghy sailing for kids. Young sailors now have a true glide machine for real excitement on the water. The O'pen Bic, with its modern and powerful rig, is a fast boat, quick to respond, self-bailing, and is fitted by the best marine hardware manufacturers (North, Ronstan, Robline). The O'pen BIC is the link between the Optimist generation and the new generation of sailing dinghies.
