Due to a delay in delivering components required to upgrade the Spit Bridge (NSW) drive system, the planned fourteen day period when the bridge will be closed to marine traffic has been postponed by two weeks and will now occur from Monday 30 April to Sunday 13 May 2012, inclusive. To assist boat owners and operators during the fourteen day bridge closure, Roads and Maritime Services have been able to secure a number of temporary mooring facilities south of Parriwi Head near Chinamans Beach. If you would like further information or want to apply for one of these temporary moorings, please (02) 9563 8504. An optional tender service for vessel owners using the temporary moorings will be available through the Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC) for a nominal fee. Roads and Maritime services are currently programming the night time road closures. Dates and times are being confirmed with the Transport Management Centre (TMC). The first road closure is required to enable delivery of the drive equipment. The second road closure will enable this equipment to be tested. The first road closure will occur immediately before the bridge shut down to high mast/tall marine traffic. The second is expected to occur at the end of the bridge shut down period, before the normal bridge opening schedule resumes. These road closures are expected to be about three hours each and would occur late at night/early in the morning. Roads and Maritime Services NSW website
