Interest in Australian products drives NSW presence at Dubai boat show

NSW marine manufacturers and service providers will again have strong representation at the Dubai International Boat Show through their presence in the Australian Pavilion, organised by the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX). The Australian Pavilion is growing in size and cements Australia’s position as a key player in the global market. In total over 20 Australian marine industry companies will be represented at the show, with NSW companies representing 50% of the total contingent. AIMEX CEO MaryAnne Edwards commented 'This is an excellent representation from NSW confirming the significance of the marine sector with the State. The support provided by NSW Trade & Investment has been a key factor in enabling such a strong contingent and will certainly drive positive results for NSW exporters.' The show to be held 13-17 March will be a premier platform for NSW companies and AIMEX members to take advantage of opportunities in the emerging Gulf marine market. Despite the current economic climate, the marine export market in the UAE region is still seen as having considerable potential. The number of leisure marine boats in the Middle East is estimated to rise to 50,600 by 2012 and there are currently over 15,000 berths realised or under development in the GCC. Ms Edwards said there was no question that the Middle East was an emerging maritime market offering opportunities across the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait to name a few. 'These areas in the Middle East have highly active tourism and trade hubs that can support long term maritime ventures.' The Middle East is the only region in the world that can boast such a huge level of investment in waterfront developments. These massive waterside developments in both Dubai and the surrounding region are generating increased demand for leisure boats, equipment and associated services. Dubai International Boat Show is the largest leisure marine exhibition in the Middle East. Now in its 20th year, the show continues to be a great opportunity for AIMEX members. AIMEX the coordinator of the Australian pavilion is the peak body for the Australian marine export industry, having more than 100 of Australia’s most successful marine companies as members. The members encompass a huge range of marine products and services with manufacturers, designers, consultants, service providers and boat show organizers. The NSW members exhibiting in Dubai include Austral Propellers, Central Coast Marine Installations, Coursemaster Autopilots, GME, Ocean Media, Pyrotek Noise Control, Seawind Catamarans, Spear Green Design, Stebercraft, Superyacht Sydney.
