37th Lincoln Week protest dismissed

'YC3300 Secret Men’s Business 3.5 and Lucette (4929) maneuvering for the pin end start race 3.'    Bob Ross/Port Lincoln Yacht Club

At the 2012 Lexus Lincoln Week, the protest against Geoff Boettcher’s Secret Mens Business 3.5 arising from a starting-line encounter in race 3 was dismissed.

Secret Mens, a Reichel/Pugh 51 from the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia and the Beneteau First 45f5 Lucette, Chris Pratt from the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron, converged and touched in the pre-start manoeuvres.

The two yachts finished equal third on identical IRC corrected times.

SMB3.5 protested and Lucette counter protested. The jury has exonerated Secret Mens Business 3.5 and disqualified Lucette.

Race winner Darryl Hodgkinson’s Beneteau First 45 Victorie from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia leads the IRC points score with 1-2-1 placings for four points followed by sister ship Reverie, Alan Woodward from the Royal Brighton Yacht Club (2-1-2) on five points.

Scarlet Runner, Rob Date from Sandringham YC is third on 10 points (3-3-4) and Secret Mens Business 3.5 fourth (4-6-3) on 13 points.

Racing continues today for all divisions with a short race around fixed marks in Boston Bay to finish in Spalding Cove, to be followed by the traditional Megga’s beach barbecue.
