ADCO Constructions is the new lead sponsor of the Etchells Australasian Winter Championship 2012 to be held off Mooloolaba on seventh to 10th June. The Etchells Winters is a long-standing Coast event that for the last 15 years has attracted to its start line a fleet of up to 50 yachts each year, crewed by some of the very best Australian and international one-design sailors. The event organisers are pleased to welcome ADCO to the sponsor family. ADCO is a national company with a keen interest in the growth of the Sunshine Coast. Mooloolaba Etchells Fleet Captain, Trevor Martin, in making the lead sponsor announcement reiterated the importance of this company stepping on board to support a significant regional event. 'ADCO is currently heavily involved in commercial construction on the Sunshine Coast so it is good to see that they are willing to put back into the community in which they are working. They are currently building in the town centre of Maroochydore a large retail precinct anchored by Harvey Norman. 'I also hope that through their national network the profile of the event will remain high among its staff and its customers. We may even attract a few ADCO staff to take up Etchells racing,' Trevor Martin said. ADCO works on government, retail, aged care, commercial and education projects. Its offices are in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Townsville, Cairns and Newcastle. The company is now one of Australia’s top 100 private companies with revenues in excess of $500 million per annum and 350 direct employees. Business Development Manager, Shane Aiken, describes the partnership between the Etchells Winters and ADCO as a natural fit. 'We have a culture of encouraging and rewarding talented staff. We invest heavily in systems and people to ensure continual improvement in operations and ongoing performance at industry best practice levels. I think the Etchells class are similar in culture to ADCO, seeking perfection in performance and winning results. 'We also have a significant interest in Brisbane’s Rivergate Marina and Shipyard so this is not our first involvement with yachting,' Shane Aiken said. The event organisers are expecting to host in June another fleet of 50 plus Etchells. Planning for the event is well underway with Etchells sailors from inter-state and Australasia already booking accommodation for themselves and family.
