The 14th edition of the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship is set to take place from 25-30 June 2012 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Notice of Race for the championship event has now been released.
Hosted by the Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club (GKSS) the sixteen teams will sail the Elliot 6metre keelboat, the equipment being used for Women's Match Racing at the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition.
With London 2012 qualification places guaranteed before the regatta the ISAF Women's Match Racing Worlds will provide an opportunity for teams to finalise their preparations for the Olympic Sailing Competition.
ISAF Competitions Manager, Antonio Gonzalez de la Madrid said, 'We saw at Perth 2011 the excitement of match racing close up.
All the sailors tested themselves against the best of the best and they will do so once more when the final qualification regatta at Sail Sheboygan from 1-5 February.
'The ISAF Women's Match Racing Worlds will be the last chance for the World's top Women's Match Racers to test themselves against each other before London 2012, which will bring out the competitive nature of the talented group of sailors that are currently competing in the circuit.'
The first placed skipper in the final results will be declared as the ISAF Women's Match Racing World Champion 2012 and will be presented with the ISAF Francoise Pascal Memorial - Women's Match Racing World Championship Trophy. The total amount of prize money will be 400.000SEK with 94,000SEK going to the victor.
