Thurlow Fisher Lawyers was very impressive in taking Heat 1 of the 18ft Skiffs Australian Championship 2012.

After trailing the early leaders Gotta Luv it 7 and Rag & Famish Hotel, Michael Coxon and his crack team forged into the lead on the second beat by playing the middle to left side which payed off, to cross Seve Jarvin's team 7. Appliances on Line also benefited on the left side and also crossed Gotta Luv it 7 in what turned out to be a tricky and shifty affair up into the Rose Bay weather mark. Triple Interdominion 12ft champion Nick Press steered Smeg into a well earned third place for valuable points.

The second heat of the Series will be held next Sunday 22nd January.
