Update on the condition of 29er sailor Tess Lloyd

Yachting Australia would like to provide an update on the condition of 29er sailor Tess Lloyd who was injured in an accident during the final race of the 2012 Australian Youth Championships on Tuesday, 10 January 2012.
Tess sustained a serious head injury in the accident and was transferred to hospital where she was placed in an induced coma to provide her the best conditions for recovery.
Tess underwent surgery on the Tuesday evening and is making good progress. She remains in an induced coma but her Doctors have reported positive signs today as they begin the process of bringing her out of the induced coma, which will take time.
Tess’ parents, Mark and Tonia, and her family would like to thank the members of the wider sailing community both in Australia and overseas, and the general public, for the support they have shown during this difficult time. The support has been overwhelming and is greatly appreciated.
Yachting Australia will continue to provide regular updates on Tess’ condition, particularly when there is a significant change. This is the family’s preferred way of communicating progress to the sailing community and the public.
The thoughts of the sailing community remain with Tess, the Lloyd family and those close to them during this time.
