Well done Brian Pattinson and crew on a spectacular achievement. In 2010, Gusto was the first boat home in the fabled Westcoaster. Move forward to 2011 and Gusto have just won the Eastcoaster. Now that's certainly a double worth having. Brian Pattinson, Gusto's Skipper said, 'The boat that has the most fun is the winner.'

Gusto's finish time was 18:55:46, for an elapsed time of 2d:8h:55m:46s, which is outside record pace. That particular mantle is still to be held by Goldfinger, who were 25 minutes astern of Gusto this evening. In third place and taking IRC (provisionally) is Veloce. She was a further 57 minutes behind Goldfinger. All crews are to be commended on offering such a great spectacle and keeping our interest up during their wonderful tussle over the last two days.
A tremendously happy Veloce crew had a big night on Wednesday at sea and Thursday looked like it might be an even bigger one - on shore this time - Heemskirk Eastcoaster 2011 - John Curnow ©
