Manuel Fagundes Seaweed Soup Midwinter Regatta was held on 3rd December 2011. Saturday broke with impossibly blue skies, unlimited visibility and crisp, cool breezes out of the North. With a Tonapah low residing over the desert southwest and a series of systems to the north, the pressure gradient wound up yet again, as it had in prior days, producing a strong North/ North East pattern of wind flow.

One taking the faster boats across the start in a reaching fashion, over to Fort Mason, then up to Knox, back to 'A' just off the StFYC back uphill to Harding, and then down to 'A' and finish back in front of GGYC. The other primary group had a reach over to '21' just east of Alcatraz and back, and the Catalina 34's sailed a triangle up to Knox, back to 'A' The to finish. The 62 contestants made quick work of the courses the last finisher crossing well before 2:00 PM! Brad Copper's TNT schooled the fleet, and estimated the strength of the ebb just right and layed the line just right on the downhill runs. Many others went for the greater pressure but found themselves over-standing the line by a large margin. Full Results
