Yacht Sentinel: Your virtual crew member

Our boats are commonly the second largest investment we make after our house. Yet many of us rely on good fortune, rather than good planning, for our prized possession to stay anchored and above water.

There are a myriad of problems that can arise while we are sitting at home with our boats left unprotected. Theft, storms, flooding or part failures are a constant threat. If only we could all afford our very own crew member to keep watch and our investment safe 24/7.

The Yacht Sentinel is a comprehensive onboard monitoring system that allows you to make essential checks on your boat simply via your mobile phone. It is a virtual crew member, providing status updates or alerts on potential problems and bringing you peace of mind.

Features include a mooring alarm. The use of advanced GPS geo-fencing techniques will monitor the boat to ensure it’s within a defined 30 metre radius.

Innovative software ensures efficient use of microcontroller, GPS and GSM modules to reduce average power consumption to under 0.008 Ampere. This enables the device to operate on a typical boat battery for many months.

GPS track information is sent as an SMS containing Latitude, Longitude, Course Over Ground and Speed Over Ground. The unit will continue to provide continues tracking for at least five days without connection to power.

The device also operates bilge, power, temperature, anchor and entry alarms. Smart1Marine are the exclusive distributors for Australia and New Zealand of the Yacht Sentinel. The product can be self-installed and the product is priced at $877.
