The City of Canberra Regatta will be sailed again this year on Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin thanks to major sponsor Harken. If the season in Canberra so far is anything to go by, the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of December will provide solid racing for all. The regatta is open to all trailer sailor yachts with popular classes including Elliot 7’s, Magic 25’s as well as Castles and Gems.

The race program includes something for everyone, with three races on Saturday 3rd December from 12.30pm including an early evening race at 4.30pm. A longer passage race on Sunday 4th December at noon concludes the regatta program, which is sure to provide enough challenge and variety for all local and visiting trailer sailors.

'Each year this regatta has been held, we have seen very competitive racing. We are expecting more than 30 boats and excellent close fleet racing between the local and visiting yachts' said CYC Commodore, Howard Faulks.

'We have received entries from as far away as Melbourne, and many boats from Sydney are also going to participate. Champion Yachtsman and Sydney to Hobart Race Winner, Mike Green, will be visiting, racing as current National Champion in the highly competitive Elliott 7 class. Past Elliot 7 National Champion, and Canberra local, Matt Owen has borrowed his old E7 for the regatta which should provide some great tussles for spectators'.

Division 2 for the smaller trailer sailor yachts is also set to be tight with up to 20 yachts taking to the water, including Castle 550’s, 650’s and Gem 550’s.

The Canberra Yacht Club and regatta sponsor Harken look forward to hosting you for the fantastic City of Canberra Regatta.
