This weekend's Zhik Etchells NSW Championship has highlighted the positive changes in the Etchells class with more younger sailors and more female sailors racing. The premier one-design keel boat class continues to grow its participation base through offering high standard events, great competition and strong class management.

A fleet of 55 boats contested the weekend's Zhik NSW Championship. Boats and sailors came from South Australia, West Australia, Victoria, Queensland, NSW, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and USA.

Dotted among the fleet were more female sailors, several under 18 sailors and a group of slightly older sailors that have come out of tseveral different youth programs including the Royal Prince Alfred's Youth Development Program.

The following images reflect the changes the class is enjoying.
