'Leigh and Lowton SC logo'

Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club's Open Revett series started on Sunday 13th November in perfect conditions.

53 boats including visitors from Sheffield Viking, Bassenthwaite, Elton, Crosby, Blackpool and Fleetwood and West Riding, enjoyed a perfect force 3 easterly breeze. PRO Paul Allen set a long course including a windward leg the length of the flash.

In the Asymmetric fleet Hamish Gledhill started a perfect series counting two bullets in his RS400. In joint second and third Caroline Exley and Jude Allen are equal on 5 points with Martin and Liam Parker. After a hard days racing it’s tight at the top of the competitive Laser fleet with one point separating the top three. Dave Shiel and Paul Heath are counting four points and Richard Marsh is counting 5. The handicap fleet was the largest of the day with 27 starters.

Chris Gillard is currently leading counting two consistent second places. The Merlin Rocket of Steve Hunt and Ruth Critchley are in second place after winning race 2 by some distance. Christian Day and Sophie Richards are first N12 and third overall counting a fourth and a third.

The stage is set for another brilliant winter series. Week two starts on Sunday 20th November. (£5 pp per day and £4 for juniors.) The galley will be serving how meals throughout the day. Visitors and spectators are invited to watch the fun from the new lounge extension.
