Back to business for True Blue Racing as 2011 season comes to a close

With less than a week to go till the start of the Musto International Youth Match Racing Championships it’s back to business for True Blue Racing as they begin their preparations for the final events of the 2011 season. After a well-earned break from sailing after their return from the World Match Racing Tour’s Argo Group Gold Cup at the beginning of October, True Blue Racing will return to the waters of Sydney Harbour for the first time since the team left for their World Tour back in February this year.

For the next four days True Blue Racing will be getting their heads back into the game before 10 days of competition across two events, to close out the month and the 2011 sailing season. After missing out on the Australian match racing circuit in 2011 due to racing on the World Match Racing Tour and US Grand Slam Series, the team is looking forward to racing on the Elliot 6 again. For the Musto International True Blue Racing will be helmed by Jordan Reece with regular mainsail trimmer Henry Kernot and returning to bow (since the Governor’s Cup in July) will be Arnau Farras-Knowles, with Jaidan Stevens joining the team during the Harken International the following week.

The team’s trimmer, Arnau Farras-Knowles flies in from New Zealand tomorrow morning and will sail for the first time on the team’s home waters of Sydney Harbour since joining the team back in January this year. 'We’ve been doing a lot of racing together now, but next week’s Musto International will be the first time I have sailed with the team on Sydney harbour during a competition so I’m really looking forward to that and also getting back into racing after my break.' Due to work commitments during the Rugby World Cup in his hometown of Auckland, New Zealand, Arnau was unable to attend the US Grade Two Grand Slam Series which saw TBR take out the second event on the tour – The Detroit Cup, in what was only the team’s second Grade 2 event, as well as missing the team’s World Match Racing Tour debut at the Argo Group Gold Cup in Hamilton, Bermuda in October. Arnau hasn’t sailed with the team since leaving for work at the end of July in Los Angeles but now returns for the final regattas of the year.

With competition from New Zealand, America and around Australia competing in the Musto International and the Harken International, True Blue Racing knows that the challenge ahead of them won’t be easy with the majority of team’s having spent many more hours recently on the Elliot 6 (being used during the first event).

The Musto International Youth Match Racing Championships will once again be hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia starting on Monday 21st November and will run for five days with 10 teams competing before moving onto the Harken International Youth Match Racing Championships at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Sydney’s Pittwater, starting on Saturday 26th.

Live results will be posted online as well as all news and daily reports from the team during both events.

True Blue Racing is a Youth Match Racing teams based out of Sydney, Australia. The team would like to thank Gill Australia and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron for their continued support of the team on their quest to become the World’s best match racing team.
