Prowler cat purr-fect for coastal cruising

They're no match for a dog in the pet department, but cats are brilliant when it comes to space, pace and fuel economy.

Nelson Bay’s Lee Marine is selling the 10.4 Prowler power catamaran designed by Newcastle’s Jeff Schionning and built in New Zealand.

Fitted with twin 70hp, 4-stroke Yamaha outboards, the Prowler delivers a 20-knot top speed while consuming only one litre per hour.

The other great advantage is a draft of 40 centimetres, allowing easy access to shallower waterways like the Myall River and anchoring almost on the beach.

Down below are twin staterooms with double berths and an additional single - both cabins have en suites. The U-shaped galley includes a gas/electric bar fridge, four-burner hob and sink.

The saloon flows through to the al fresco cockpit seating area, complete with sink, insulated icebox and gas barbecue.
