This weekend, the Opening Regatta of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s 2011-2012 sailing season will welcome over 100 keelboats from all of Hong Kong's sailing clubs to compete on the waters of Victoria Harbour, a prime venue for yacht racing since the first regatta was held there in 1849.

The regatta will comprise one race on Saturday and two races on Sunday. The warning signal will be at 1345hrs for the Saturday race and 1105hrs for the first race on Sunday. The start times for each Class are as follows.

Class Race 1 (Sat 17) Race 2 (Sun 18)
Big Boat Div 2 and 3 1350hrs 1110hrs
Impala 1355hrs 1115hrs

Race 3 will be held as soon as possible after the completion of Race 2 on Sunday.

The start line and courses will be set on the day by the Race Officer, Inge Strompf-Jepsen, her selection being influenced by wind and tidal conditions. Racing will take place in the Eastern Harbour, between RHKYC Kellett Island and Shau Kei Wan.

The regatta prizegiving presentation will be held on the Main Lawn at Kellett Island after racing on Sunday, starting at around 1830hrs.
