Sail-World.com : US Sailing Board of Directors 2011 elections

US Sailing Board of Directors 2011 elections

From September 9 to October 19, 2011, US Sailing will hold its annual election to fill three seats on its Board of Directors.

As a member, you have the power to directly elect the Board members, thereby building ownership in the organization and selecting the best people to lead the sport in the United States. Members of the Board of Directors serve for a three-year term. All current US Sailing adult and family members are entitled to vote.

Meet the 2011 Nominees for the Board of Directors: US Sailing is pleased to announce the following nominees for the Board of Directors.

The Nominating Committee has named three candidates to fill two slots on the Board. The two nominees that receive the most number of votes will fill those positions. Online voting begins September 9, 2011. Click on the names below for a full profile on each of the candidates.

Nominated by the Nominating Committee, Running for a Three-Year Term:

Bruce Burton -  US Sailing?nid=88218_©
Dawn Riley -  US Sailing?nid=88218
Bruce Cook -  US Sailing?nid=88218

Nominated by the House of Delegates, Running for a Three-Year Term:

There is one position open - the nominee is running unopposed.

Election Details: Each active US Sailing member is entitled to one vote, whether you vote online or in person. Each family membership is entitled to two votes, which must be cast simultaneously using the same means. To make it easier for everyone, US Sailing will accept votes via its website as well as regular mail or fax (401-683-0840). The online election period is September 9 to October 19, 2011. If you have questions, please email the Nominating Committee at electionquestions@ussailing.org.

Campaigning: The rules for election campaigning were revised in August 2011. See the Election FAQ for specifics. Shannon Bush has withdrawn her nomination to focus on her efforts on the US Sailing Championships.
