David Taylor’s Sydney 36 Pisces today clinched a back-to-back victory in the RYCT 42 Below Vodka Winter Pursuit Series, winning the final race for Division 1 in convincing style on the River Derwent.

Jigsaw (Neil Snare) took out the Division 2 pennant, Another Toy (Greg Rowlings) Division 3 while Wedgewood, helmed by David Graney, won the SB3 Winter Handicap series.

The final race was sailed in a light northerly breeze in, apart from a brief shower, ideal conditions on a busy river dotted with some one hundred dinghies taking part in the Dinghy Groups Sail School.

Pisces notched up three wins and a second over the five race Winter Series, winning today’s final Division 1 race on corrected time by almost three minutes from the lightweight flyer Storm Dragon (Tom Pilkington), third place going to the Farr 40 War Games (Wayne Banks-Smith).

Overall Pisces finished with five points, Whistler (David Rees) taking second on eight points and War Games third with 12 points.

Jigsaw had Division 2 virtually sewn up going into today’s last race, with a second place giving it a net seven points, well clear of the SB3 Beanie (Patrick Copeland) on 18 points. Miss Conduct (Brian Fleming) won today’s race to take third place on 21 points.

In Division 3 the J24 Another Toy had an easy last race and overall victory when close rival Ragtime (Tom Kirkland) was disqualified with an OCS. Forced to carry the nine points for the OCS, Ragtime slipped to 21 points, taking second place on a countback from King Billy (Steve Brown).

Only three SB3s turned out for today’s final race of the winter handicap series, with Wedgewood winning the race and the series with 13 points from Beanie (Patrick Copeland) 15 points and Toll Shipping (Nick Rogers) on 17 points.
