The first European Youth Sailing Games, being held at Fraglia Vela Riva, Italy are going full steam ahead.

Yesterday the storms had brought the wind from the north on Trentino Garda but today the sunshine returned and with it a southerly wind of 12 to 14 knots, perfect for the under 19's taking part in this event which includes 21 nations and around 100 crafts.

It was a fine day's racing with all scheduled races completed. Eight for the 29er and six for the Byte and Techno 293 board with the elimination of the worst races in place. Excellent results for the Italians in the Byte M&F and Techno board F. There is a more heated battle for the top slot in the 29er and Techno Board M.

29er
It was a good day for the mixed Danish crew of Salkov-Christfort, who today had two firsts and two seconds putting them in the lead and equal on points with fellow Danes Stephenson Thusgaard (3-1-7-1). The Danish have taken a good lead from the rest of the pack. They are seven points ahead of Plaseka-Kalinoski of Poland - who from yesterday's first place, today dropped to third. Italians Nulli-Zubboli have climbed into eighth place.

Byte CII M
Michele Benamati of Fraglia Vela Riva is progressing nicely even though he is being challenged by fellow Italian Marco Benini (Fraglia Vela Riva), who today was in excellent form. With his three wins from yesterday, Benamati continued his form in today's first race then followed with two thirds.

It was a great day for fellow Italian Marco Benini of Fraglia Vela Riva, who after yesterday's two sixths, today had two wins and a second partial. This result puts him in second place, one point ahead of Zelko of Slovenia (3-2-2).

Byte CII F
Behr of Denmark seems to be in a class of her own: not even World Laser Champion Cecilia Zorzi (Fraglia Vela Riva) seems to be able to break her winning streak - six victories altogether for the Dane.

Cecilia is still there, but at the moment is in second place seven points behind. In third place is Joice Floridia of Fraglia Vela Riva.

Techno 293 F
This category was able to make up for the lost race of yesterday and today completed four races in all. It's a real battle between the British Sill sisters first and third in the recent World under 17 Techno Championships, and multi- title holder Marta Maggetti of Cagliari. These are all girls who have reached the podium in World Championships albeit in different age categories.

The Italian, however, is not letting herself be intimidated and today with two firsts and two seconds took a solid lead in the table eight points ahead of Saskia Sills of GB, who as predicted, climbed several places and stormed in taking two firsts, a second and a seventh overtaking her sister Imogen (4-2-3-6) who lies in third place.

Techno 293 M
World champion 2011 Martin of GB seems to be set for a final victory. With three firsts and a third he has a comfortable eight point lead over Javadav of Belarus (3-7-2-4). Six points behind is Ayvazyan of Russia while Italian Michele Cittadini is trying to reach the podium. He is in fourth position two points behind third place.
