Rolex International Women’s Keelboat Championship 2011 is set to start August 29th with a fleet of J/22s. The event which is hosted by Rochester Yacht Club, will run until September 1st 2011. The Final registration deadline for the 14th edition of the Championship will be August 3rd.

Teams from three countries have registered to compete in this historic event, including the United States, Canada and The Netherlands. Defending 2009 Rolex IWKC Champion and US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics member Anna Tunnicliffe and her team will be competing again this year. The 2010 and 2011 Quantum Women’s College Sailors of the Year Allie Blecher (2010) and Annie Haeger (2011) will also be racing.

US Sailing organizes a series of Road to Rolex clinics to help develop teams and encourage their participation in this elite, historic championship. The final Road to Rolex clinic of the season is hosted by the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club in West Boothbay Harbor, Maine on August 6-8. Amanda Callahan, head coach of the 2011 APS/ICSA Team Race National Champion Roger Williams University sailing team, will be the instructor. Access the 2011 Road to Rolex Schedule and register today here.

While the Road to Rolex clinics are designed to prepare competitors for the Rolex IWKC, participants do not have to be attending the Rolex IWKC to join in the clinic. Chalk-talks, on-the-water sessions and video debriefs will culminate with a short race series in J/22s which determines the clinic winner who becomes the recipient of a $200 credit toward her entry fee to the Rolex IWKC.
