The magnificent 130ft MY Mea Culpa returned to Rivergate Marina this week to be lifted for maintenance and modifications before commencing its 2011 cruise of Australian waters.

Last seen down under in December 2003, this luxury long range game fishing yacht has returned to Australian waters because the Captain, Mike Hein said 'We simply did not spend enough time in these beautiful cruising grounds last time around'. MY Mea Culpa has logged over 90,000 nautical miles cruising the oceans of the world since she last departed Australia.

Captain Mike has spent the best part of the last seven years cruising the earth’s oceans onboard this unique craft. Hein and the experienced crew have already explored waters around New Zealand, Western Samoa, French Polynesia, the Caribbean, the Virgin Island and many more South Pacific destinations. There is no doubt that chartering this fishing yacht would be a once in a life time adventure.

Captain Mike Hein said '…one of the reasons we chose to return to Rivergate is Peter Ryan. Peter is one of the most experienced boat builders that I know… and we wanted Peter involved in the modifications to our yacht'.

The yacht has a uniquely styled tuna tower, an extensive assortment of every type of fishing gear imaginable, and a full fighting chair on the aft deck. Tenders include an 18ft Whaler and a 14ft Novurania; all for the keen fisherman’s pleasure. Also, if there are any divers onboard, Captain Hein is a licenced dive master and Mea Culpa carries numerous sets of scuba gear as well as several kayaks.

Mea Culpa is visiting Rivergate Marina and Shipyard for routine maintenance as well as upgrading the vessels sophisticated sonar/sounder systems.

Manager of Rivergate Marina and Shipyard, Andrew Cannon said, 'The attention to detail on this yacht is superb. It is the only superyacht I know that has an independent de-humidified air feed to all the lockers onboard; mold and mildew are not a problem on this beautiful craft. A true green initiative, as harsh cleaners are not required to keep these areas clean'.

Once all work has been completed Captain Hein plans to take the yacht north to Cairns for the Black Marlin season, and then travel south to Tasmania to explore regions the owner missed last time the vessel was down under.
