Sail-World.com : IAG sells 127’ Primadonna and 100’ Electra
IAG sells 127’ Primadonna and 100’ Electra
|
In what’s been quite a spectacular year for IAG Yachts, and following on from some successful shows in Miami, Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Chinese-based shipyard have managed to complete sales on both their first two production models, the 127 foot Primadonna to a buyer in Florida and the 100 foot Electra to a buyer in China. A celebratory event was held at IAG Group’s country club in southern China on Saturday 28 May to mark the special occasion, attended by media, guests and friends of the group. 'I am extremely happy that we have sold not just one, but both our yachts - to very different buyers and in two different regions of the world,' said Tim Chang, Director of IAG Yachts. The two sales mark a promising start to the shipyard that completed the Primadonna last autumn and are due to complete the Electra by September of this year. 'We always felt that shipping the Primadonna to the US was the right decision, and to debut her to the world at the Miami show definitely made quite an impact,' said Andrew Chang, Head of Marketing. The sale of the Electra was the outcome of two consecutive shows in Shanghai and Hong Kong where Chinese buyers are making headlines for indulging in the purchases of yachts. 'We’re continuing to hear big news that many Chinese buyers are purchasing yachts almost impulsively at shows within the Greater China Region' said Chang. 'It’s been forecasted that China’s yachting culture is maturing, and recent success at shows - particularly within the region – bears this out.' The spacious RINA-classed Primadonna, built for charter, boasts 6 ensuite staterooms sleeping up to 12 guests (with the voluminous owner’s stateroom featuring remarkable headroom), a large main salon with dining area, a full beam sky lounge and a very open sun deck that features a large Jacuzzi and bar area. The Electra is due for completion in September and features 4 en-suite guest staterooms, a stylish salon and separate dining room, and will reach a top speed of 27 knots. Both buyers have agreed to allow IAG to continue to display both yachts at future shows. IAG now have three hulls under production in the yard, due for completion within the next six to nine months.
