Murwillumbah Rowing Regatta 2011– Exclusion zone on Tweed River

NSW Maritime North Coast Regional Manager Jim Green today reminded boaters to exercise caution in the vicinity of the special safety exclusion zone in place on the Tweed River for the Murwillumbah Rowing Regatta this Saturday.

Mr Green said those participating in the rowing regatta would, for safety reasons, have exclusive use of the Tweed River between Condong and Murwillumbah Bridges.

'For the safety of those participating, the event area will be closed to all other boaters,' he said.

The exclusion zone will be in place from 8am to 5pm and the boundaries of the zone will be clearly marked by buoys during this period.

Only vessels associated with the event will be permitted into the exclusive use zone.

Other vessels may be able to pass alongside the event area when racing is not underway with permission of the race officials.

Recreational boaters considering taking their vessels out into this area on Saturday should familiarise themselves with the exclusion zone before heading out.
