Latest news from Force Racing:
It has been a while since the last news!
Since the successful Optimist nationals, for coaching and J Sail, I have teamed up with the NZL Optimist team heading to the Asian Championships. This is a group of 10 sailors and we will also have Daniel Willcox there as coach which is fantastic.
I have also taken up a contract coaching the 'JapaNZ' opti team. This is a young girl Emily Koya from Japan who has moved to New Zealand to improve her sailing and her English. This is a great project, with some great long term goals.
I have also been coaching for YNZ helping the 420 teams that are representing NZ at the Youth Worlds. It is great to see the progress of these young sailors as they put in the hard work towards their goal.
While the 470 sailors in the NZL Sailing team have been overseas, I have been working very hard with the 'junior' teams coming up through the ranks. The ISAF decision in May was news to these young sailors ears as they can now set longer term goals to their training. When the NZL Sailing team is back in town it is great to get them out sailing against the up and coming crews. The background work I am involved with the NZL Sailing 470 teams is still on going, and this is great to be involved in such professional yet fun project!
Forceracing will be bringing in a cool new piece of kit, being the Sail Pro Cameras; we will be bringing in the Multi Sport Camera as well as the sailing mounts. These will be available from the middle of June.
Also on the good news front;J Sail HQ has been great in sponsoring those sailors heading overseas to continental events.
On the sailing front the Moth Class in NZL held a regatta in May and with a new boat that I hadn’t really 'sailed in' I was learning as I go. It was great to have a few boats going around the track together. We had a great day on the Saturday, but unfortunately on the Sunday there wasn’t enough wind to get out and race.
The Forceracing/Madloop training moth has been out a few times lately and we are looking forward to another busy winter on the lake.
