UK 18ft Skiff Grand Prix will be hosted by Exe Sailing Club, Exmouth, this bank holiday weekend. There will be three days of racing on Devon’s coast line from 28th to 30th May 2011.

Seven teams are due to do battle ranging in experience and levels of technology. A two buoy system will be running to keep the new teams and those with older boats a chance to mix it up with the best 18ft skiff teams in the UK and a chance to win the event. The newer teams, in the red fleet, will be rounding the nearest windward mark. The experienced teams, in the white fleet, rounding the furthest windward mark each lap of the windward-leeward course. With a fresh west southwest breeze forecast and technical support from Action Cameras we will be able to bring you onboard action from the weekends racing.

Team Pica is currently top of the leader board having won the first round in Stone last month. They’ve just returned from winning the recent Hungarian Grand Prix and are favourites for this event. However, with Investec performing well in breeze and Hyde Sails going faster with each regatta, both teams will be on the chase. For the UK teams it’s an important event to finalise their preparations for Mark Foy Trophy in Denmark.

If you happen to be in the area or would like to see this all with your own eyes please come down to Exmouth and join us. There are great vantage points on the seafront and around the bay to watch the racing from the shore. If possible and if there is interest we can investigate organising a spectator boat.
