You can break a world record online, compete against your mates or create a syndicate for your boat and race other boats.

The Save Our Seas Around Australia World Record Virtual Regatta is the first such event located in Australia and as such will take sailors around this great Southern Land. Beginning in Sydney Harbour, sailors will have to sail north around several headlands, enter the reef through gates at Raine Entrance and transit the channel north of Wednesday Island, just like the official race course.

Then it is off around Melville Island in the Northern Territory and onto the West coast. Once you pass one of the great stormy capes of the world, Cape Leeuwin, it is off across the southern ocean to Tasmania before heading back to Sydney for the finish.

Wind forecasts on our official systems predict a possible course time of around 22 days so let's see if you are the best in the world and if you can set a world record.

The system will be uploaded over night and will be available Wednesday morning ready for your start at 1000 EST.
