European Yngling Championship - The 2011 edition of the European Spring time Yngling Championship, organised by Fraglia Vela Riva, Italy, came to a close today with all eight scheduled races completed.
Four days and of sun and winds provided the perfect conditions for a great Championship hard-fought to the very end.
The Dutch crew of Otte-Haven-Oost were yesterday so far ahead on points that they didn’t need to race the last leg today. A well deserved victory for the crew who have held the lead since day two.
The Slovenian crew of Antoncic, Strakh, Nevecny, five points behind, managed to hold on to second place coming in third in today's final race. Winds today were a little lighter than the previous days (6-7 m/sec). With a final win in today’s race the Dutch crew of Jamin-Smolders, Berens took third place overtaking Gotschalk-Nittergard-Brendstring of Denmark who dropped into fourth place after finishing with a 14th position today. Altogether there were six nations in the top ten. Quite a variety.
Everyone was very pleased with the organization of the regatta and weather conditions were once again fantastic on Trentino Garda.
Next is the Olympic classes at Fraglia Vela Riva, Italy: Eurolymp Garda 2011 starts on Wednesday.
