After qualifying fourth for the semi finals we were left facing NZ match racing guru Laurie Jury, who was fresh from a grade 2 win in Qatar.
We won the first race after a very good start by Reuben, then lost the second after a strong performance from Laurie’s team. In the third race we got a good start and extended on several wind shifts to get a comfortable lead. This put us through into the finals against yet another kiwi team, skippered by William Tiller.
We held slim advantages in both races before boat handling errors on their part saw us build big leads to win the finals 2-0, earning us a place in the Korea Match Cup, the fourth event on the World Match Racing Tour. Naturally the team is very excited at the prospect of lining up against the worlds best.
