Fremantle Bali 2011 - Limit sets scorching pace overnight

Limit set off from Fremantle three days after the Rally fleet in the Visit Indonesia Fremantle Bali 2011, and just three days later has their leaders in her sights despite losing two hours in Geraldton to allow an injured crewman to leave the yacht for medical treatment.

At dawn today only two Rally yachts, the leader Slipstream and the ketch Trade Winds V, remain ahead of Limit, and by noon Limit should have overtaken them also.

She remains on track to arrive at Benoa Harbour on Sunday, though looking ahead light breezes near Bali could well foil the record bid.

The real action was farther back in the fleet, where Australian Maid was able to overtake Sue Sea, Audeamus and Walk on the Wild Side for outright second, and now vies with Audeamus for IRC handicap honours. Walk on the Wild Side dropped back a little overnight, but the enthralling contest between these four evenly matched yachts will continue to be the focus of interest until they reach Bali.

The two fleets have now started to overlap and most are close to North West Cape, where they leave the Australian mainland for the open ocean crossing to Bali.
