Hollowell Sailing Club Open RS Tera. The day started with the sun shining and a light breeze. 12 Teras for the open, which we shared with Toppers.
by Will Taylor
As everyone else was in Sport rigs I changed from my normal Pro rig to join in the fun. George launched his new boat for the first time – sail number 2012 – cool.
The first race started smoothly but soon after the start the wind dropped completely, so we were all only just moving but catching the Toppers up. Eventually the wind filled in, but still very light so we only did one lap, first George, second Henry, third Nial. Not a bad start with a new boat! After the race we moored up as the Toppers were doing another lap.
The second race was very similar in terms of wind with huge wind shifts and big patches of no wind, but this time we did two laps, first Rebecca, second Daniel, third Will. Then we went in for lunch.
After lunch we did one more race and it was all to play for as up to six people could win the event. In this race the wind was shifting a lot up the first beat. I managed to get ahead of the pack so I could play the shifts and then got away downwind. Behind me there was a lot of place changing meaning the overall result was in doubt to the end. In this race we did two laps again, first Will, second Hamish, third George.
The overall results were first Will Taylor, four points AWSC, second George Catchpole, four points WOBYC, third Rebecca Lewis, five points DWSC, fourth Hamish Beaumont, six points BSC, fifth Henry Jameson, seven points HISC, sixth Daniel Lewis, eight points DWSC, seventh Nial Holman, nine points HSC, eighth Grace Hambrook, seventeen points HOAC, ninth Jack Lewis, seventeen points DWSC, tenth Thomas Williams, eighteen points BSC, eleventh Oliver Hudson, twenty-one points BSC, twelfth Eleanor Cranfield, twenty-thee points HSC.
We all had great day and particularly enjoyed the cakes and ice creams before the prize giving. RS Tera website
