The final race in the Club Marine Series for 2011, was sailed today on Port Phillip Bay.
After a postponement for strong winds for the morning race in Division 0 and 1, Race Officer for the day, David LeRoy sent all divisions out to their respective courses off St Kilda for a 2pm start. Division 1 and 2 south of Williamstown, whilst Division 2 and 3 were racing off St Kilda to the east.
Winds abated as predicted, with a softening seaway, as Division 2 and 3 got underway in around 11knots. This was short lived as wind strength resumed to the mid 20's for the remainder of racing. Though most divisions had secured their overall winners, competitors still enjoyed a day on the water in fluctuating 20 - 25 knots of balmy NNW breeze.
Today, Max Peter's Adams 10 Top Gun took the trifecta in AMS, IRC and EHC in Division 2. Overall, David Ellis's Penfold Audi Sport continued his success with his Archaumbalt 31 to take out Division 2.
Race officials had hoped for a second race however, the anticipated westerly change arrived and subsequent squalling winds and rain called for an early end to racing.
