International Hobie Class latest news:

Tanzacat 2011
dates have been announced 2-11 September. This world acclaimed event has included the Zanzibar Raid. With a limited number of brand new Hobie Tiger and Hobie 16 (that is right brand new charter boats available) this is another Hobie event not to miss.

Hobie 16 Asian Championships is announced for Weihai, China, September 6th to 14th. There are large range charter boats available that are in excellent condition. The Weihai Government is putting a big effort into increasing Hobie sailing in China. It will be another spectacular event. Everyone is invited from Asia and around the world. A Notice of Race will be released very soon.

XXXV Brazilian Hobie Cat 16 Championship and XXXIX Brazilian Hobie Cat 14 Championship have been announced October 29 – November 05, 2011. The host location Buzios, has been nominated as one of the top-10 most beautiful places in the world only 2 hours from Rio de Janeiro.

The Thai Hobie National Championships Hobie Nationals at Royal Varuna Yacht Club from fifth to eighth of May 2011 featuring the Hobie 16, Hobie Tiger and Hobie Wild Cat all racing.

The IHCA Rules Committee has updated the new Class Rules after the comment period and approval from ISAF. These rules upgrades will affect all Hobie classes. It can be downloaded from the IHCA web site www.hobieclass.com

We also welcome the newest Hobie fleet in Bulgaria to the Hobie family. We hope to see some sailors from Bulgaria at international Hobie regatta soon.

In May ISAF will meet to discuss the disciplines for the 2016 Olympics. The submissions have been released and it seems everyone wants the multihull back in to the Olympics. This is great news for all multihull sailors. ISAF Council will also need to discuss if the have 'mixed', 'open' or men and women multihull disciplines. We hope that the ISAF Council votes on a submission the IHCA submitted having both men and women multihulls. We felt this gave the best reflection on world sailing and promoting world sailing.
