The Victorian A Class Championships is gearing up to be a star studded affair with a number of America's Cup sailors taking to the waters off McCrae Yacht Club on the Mornington Peninsula (VIC) this weekend, 12th to 14th March 2011.

World Champion A Class sailor Glenn Ashby is competing and will be keeping an eye on the usual competition in the form of Steve Brewin and Brad Collett, but with the competitors list reading like a who’s who of the America’s Cup, Ashby will need to watch out. Fellow Emirates Team New Zealand sailors Dean Barker, Ray Davies and Adam Beashal are all competing, along with Andy Feathers and newcomer to the class Ed Smyth from the Artemis AC team.

Noel Drennan will also be competing this weekend coming straight from the RC44 event in San Diego and coaching in Miami.

It seems that the AC sailors know where to go to keep their catamaran skills up to scratch and McCrae Yacht Club over the weekend is the place to be.

As the line in the movie goes 'The big boats get the glory but the small boats make the sailor' .
