Royal Southern Yacht Club - In a busy year preceding the Royal Southern Yacht Club’s 175th Anniversary in 2012, the Club is delighted to announce a packed and exciting Racing Programme for 2011 that includes hosting a number of high profile national championships.

The ever-popular Summer Series Regattas are back in a format that allows for maximum racing on the water with minimal impact on other events taking place. In May, June, July and September, an entire weekend is dedicated to IRC, Sportsboat, One-design and White Sail racing. Any class that can muster more than eight boats will be given their own class start.

In addition the Southern is very pleased to have been selected to manage National Championships for the Laser SB3s, Beneteau 40.7s, J/92s and J/105s.

The Club is also hosting the Royal Southern Academy Match Cup Heat 2 & Finals in March, X Yachts Solent Cup, Contessa 32 Racing, SB3 Solent Series 1, 2, 3; IRC Solent Series 2, J/109 Saturday Series, Impala Racing, Academy Cup, Captains Cup, Women’s Open Keelboat Championships, and Farr 45 Race Weekend.

Royal Southern Oyster Week returns in 2011. Following on from last year’s successful inaugural event, Oyster Week comprises sailing in the Solent, and visiting Yarmouth and Cowes for the socialising! A Round the Island voyage will also feature in the itinerary.

The highly competitive Laser SB3 Class will celebrate their 10th National Championships in August at the Club. 'The Laser SB3 fleet has been a very popular class in the Solent since its launch in 2002 and we always enjoy the racing and hospitality laid on by the Royal Southern,' says Katie Ashworth, Laser SB3 Class Secretary.

The Club is looking forward to welcoming competitors to these great regattas over the coming months. Check the Club website for dates and online entry details for all these events.
