Following on from the success of the 2009 & 2010 Australian Marine Industry Export Awards AIMEX is proud to announce they will again be hosting and managing the 2011 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export Awards. In 2010 the awards were a great success with 21 applications and over 200 marine industry professionals and media in attendance at the awards presentation evening.

'These awards ensure that Australian marine industry manufacturers and service providers get the profile they deserve, not only in the domestic market but also in the international arena. Feedback AIMEX has received following last years awards is testament to this.' said MaryAnne Edwards, AIMEX Chief Executive.

'Winning the 'Australian Marine Industry Export Awards - Most Innovative Product' award in 2010, has been an extremely rewarding experience,' said Carlo Khamu, Director, FinScan. 'FinScan have been able to capitalize on the marketing opportunity the award has presented for us during boat shows, and International promotion of the awards by AIMEX. This has resulted in an increased enquiry level and distribution take up for new regions overseas.'

'The extra attention this (winning awards) brings from both customers and peers in the industry has helped sailing through the doldrums of this year’s (2010’s) slow export markets due to the high AUD,' said Brent Vaughan, Sales & Marketing Manager, Seawind Catamarans.

'It’s not so much the winning of an award that is important; for GME the positive publicity we received in both the local and international media through our involvement was excellent,' said Sean Griffin, GME. 'I am absolutely convinced this exposure contributed to our international successes in 2010. I highly commend the annual AIMEX awards; GME’s participation will continue to be an important component of our export marketing strategy.

The export awards brochure will be posted to Australian marine export companies and service providers in late February and is available now to download along with the application Form on the AIMEX website www.aimex.asn.au Applications will close on Friday 6th May, 2010 giving members additional time this year to submit applications. The judges are currently being finalized and will be announced in the next month.

AIMEX has had a good response for sponsorship for the 2011 Awards and is delighted to announce Club Marine as naming rights sponsors. Major sponsors include Department of Innovation, Industry, Science & Research (DIISR), FGI and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Supporting sponsors include Marine Business, Musto and Sandman Public Relations.

AIMEX have revised the Award categories again this year with a new category 'Young Achiever' implemented to reward and encourage younger generations in the industry.

Awards will be announced at the 2011 Club Marine/AIMEX networking function on Thursday 28th July at Bayside Terrace, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sydney (first evening of the Sydney International Boat Show).
