Sail Beats Power for Matrimony: It's official!

NSW Charter Vessels take Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in first National Bridal Industry Award for Marine Wedding Receptions.

This is definitely not your every day award. The Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) was engaged to design a program which would determine the No 1 wedding supplier in Australia. In the category of Marine Wedding Reception Venues, NSW Charter Vessels have been independently rated the top in Australia and the gold medal has been won by the sailing yacht, Sydney Sundancer.

Part of the brief required surveying a minimum of 10,000 newly-weds, across four States, covering 40 separate wedding categories spread between 5,700 business. The aim was to determine the consistency of excellence in each of these 5,700 business, so it was mandatory to rate all 5,700 business every year for a consecutive period of three years. The final selection of Australia's No 1 wedding supplier is based on the customers four pillars of perfection, being; product, service, value and staff.

Marine Wedding Reception Venue is one of the 40 categories on which the brides have been surveyed and Luxury Yachting, Elite Cruisies and Sydney Glass Island have taken the Gold, Silver or Bronze medals, quite an achievement for NSW when all the news about NSW is doom and gloom.

These NSW charter vessel operators have been voted better than their interstate rivals by the only people qualified to vote : actual brides and grooms who have engaged the service of wedding suppliers. This must be one of the purest evaluations of customer satisfaction because the only enfranchised evaluator is rating their personal satisfaction about one of the most important days of their own life.

By winning the gold medal Luxury Yachting's 60ft ketch 'Sydney Sundancer' has shown that sail can be a real competitor to power in matrimony. The competition was a bit like a 'David & Goliath' event, because Luxury Yachting's husband & wife team of John & Lynne Boyce were up against Elite Cruises and Sydney Glass Island, charter operators many times their size!

The ABIA award : 'Designer of Dreams' is the first truly national award for Marine Wedding Reception Venues and it is based on consecutive outstanding performance over a 3 year period.

Sydney Sundancer has won the Australia Day Council’s award for best charter vessel on Sydney Harbour on Australia Day (in class) 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2007 as well as the City of Sydney Council award for Best Illuminated Vessel on Sydney Harbour on New Years Eve 1998/9.
