Route des Princes : une première édition réussie !

La Route des Princes, première du nom au concept totalement inédit, s'est déroulée du 9 au 30 juin 2013. Réservée à tous les multicoques d'une taille minimum de 50 pieds, cette course unique a pris la forme d'un véritable tour d'Europe des terroirs, menant neuf équipages de Valence, en Espagne, à la baie de Morlaix, en Bretagne, en passant par Lisbonne (Portugal), Dublin - Dún Laoghaire (Irlande) et Plymouth (Grande-Bretagne). Au total : 3 045 milles. Un parcours riche et dense, ponctué par de grandes fêtes populaires à chacune des escales. Un succès à la fois sportif, populaire et médiatique qui a logiquement incité les organisateurs de l'évènement à se projeter en 2015, pour étudier une seconde édition.

Engagés depuis longtemps dans une démarche de promotion de leurs métiers et de leur culture par le biais d'une présence forte dans le monde de la course au large, les producteurs Bretons ont su créer une course à leur image. Une course au dispositif humain et opérationnel gagnant, capable de mettre en valeur les échanges entre la mer et la terre, ceux-là mêmes qui entretiennent la richesse des terroirs. En somme, un évènement d'un nouveau type, riche de rencontres et de temps forts.

Un succès sportif
En mer, d'abord, avec un parcours en quatre étapes dans des zones très variées, de la Méditerranée jusqu'en Mer du Nord, à une période de l'année où la météo a, à chaque instant, bouleversé toutes les stratégies et les classements. Ainsi, dans chaque classe, la bagarre a été belle. Il aura d'ailleurs fallu attendre le dénouement de la quatrième et dernière étape off-shore pour connaitre les noms des grands vainqueurs de l'épreuve. Au final, en Multi70, c'est Edmond de Rothschild, impérial lors des courses in-shore et premier du dernier acte au large entre Plymouth et Roscoff, qui s'est adjugé la victoire tandis que chez les Multi50, c'est Arkema – Région Aquitaine de Lalou Roucayrol qui s'est hissé sur la plus haute marche du podium après une incroyable bataille à trois tout au long du parcours. C'est un fait, le suspense n'a pas manqué.

Un succès populaire
A terre ensuite, puisque la course a été rythmée par des escales authentiques durant lesquelles chaque ville a mis en avant ses richesses agricoles, gastronomiques, artisanales, culturelles et touristiques. Les cinq ports de la Route des Princes ont, en effet, dévoilé tour à tour leur histoire et leurs saveurs uniques en plus de leurs grands évènements populaires déjà existants et largement installés tels que les paëllas géantes et le concours de grands chefs à Valence, la Fête de la Ville à Lisbonne, les concerts à Dublin – Dún Laoghaire, les fêtes sur les quai du Barbican à Plymouth ou encore 'Entre Terre et Mer', bouquet final qui a transformé pour sa deuxième édition la baie de Morlaix en une communion des marins, des pêcheurs et des paysans. Le public ne s'y est pas trompé : plus de 500 000 personnes ont visité les différents villages-étapes !

Un succès médiatique
La Route des Princes a donc porté haut les valeurs des territoires européens qui l'ont accueillie en leur donnant une dimension sportive. L'événement s'est aussi révélé être une réponse évidente aux besoins des teams, dont les sponsors ont besoin de toucher des publics plus larges et diversifiés. Ils ont également trouvé en la Route des Princes une course dense et compacte sur un mois, aux coûts d'escales maîtrisés par l'organisation, tout en garantissant une couverture média d'une richesse incomparable. La preuve en quelques chiffres: 57 accords médias répartis dans les cinq pays visités ont été passé, 437 journalistes accrédités, 3839 articles de presse, 47 heures de TV (diffusion unique), 395 heures de TV (multi-diffusions), près de cinq millions de pages vues sur le web, 30 068 inscrits à la régate virtuelle, 500 000 visionnages vidéo .... L'ensemble des retombées sur les 5 pays concernés étant valorisé à 23 millions d'euros* Rien de moins !

Tous les regards tournés vers 2015
Forte de tous ces succès et résolument différente des autres courses, la Route des Princes se projette logiquement dans l'avenir. Les organisateurs de ce véritable Tour d'Europe des saveurs vraies et authentiques travaillent d'ores et déjà sur la prochaine édition programmée en août 2015 et qui réserverait bien des surprises, à commencer par son tracé dont les premiers détails seront dévoilés prochainement ou le Défi du Prince, ce rendez-vous intermédiaire présenté dernièrement. A suivre donc !
