The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta spent some time on Tuesday with Soc over at Radio Station Island 92 discussing donations for the fire victims in Cole Bay. The fire at Wesley Lane in Cole Bay was a tragedy and with the victims left homeless and with no worldly possessions, organizations all over the Island have leaped into action by donating various items to help those in need. The Red Cross has been collecting items for the victims and as a fellow foundation the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta was more than happy to help and donate the left over 2013 volunteer T - shirts.
With over a 100 t - shirts donated to the cause the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta hopes to support and clothe those in need and also encourage other businesses and organizations on the Island to donate anything they can. 'Every company should have a look in their storage room and see if there is anything that is collecting dust, but can be of great support to those who have lost literally everything. It's not about quantity and it doesn't have to be clothing. You would be surprised what is needed and will be very appreciated by the victims. Toys, books, magazines, health care products, etc. Anyone can contribute' says Regatta Director Michele Korteweg.
With the victims losing everything the Red Cross is receiving all sorts of items for donations, from clothing to toys and household equipment. All donations need to be in good condition and can be dropped of at the Red Cross Headquarters on Airport Road, for further information call (1-721) 545 2333.
