'Summer activities at ANMM'    Australian National Maritime Museum

Looking for something to keep the little ones busy now that older brother or big sister has gone back to school? Look no further that the Australian National Maritime Museum’s Mini Mariners program.

Budding mariners, aged 2-5 years, can have a rollicking good time each Tuesday and one Saturday every month exploring the museum’s galleries. There’s singing and dancing with costumed guides plus creative free play with craft, games, books, dress ups and story time. With a different theme each month there’s plenty to keep ‘em busy:

February - Pirates Ahoy!

Let's follow the treasure map around the museum to find the secret treasure cave. Then you can decorate your own pirate hat, bandanna or treasure chest to take home. Tuesdays 19, 26 and Saturday 16 February

March - Drip Drop Splash!

Dive into the wonderful world of water! Join Puddleboots and the Ice Princess for a tour through the museum galleries to discover stories about water and how we use it every day. Sing songs, play games and make your own bubble painting, or water drop prints to take home. *Please note this is not an aqua-play program. Tuesday 5, 12, 19, 26 March and Saturday 9 March

April - Sail Around the World

Pack your suitcase and step aboard for an adventurous voyage around the museum! Discover types of transport, places and people from around the world as we sail from Tahiti to Cape Horn. Learn to hula dance, sing songs and craft your own Japanese fans or flower leis to take home. Tuesday 2, 9, 30 April and Saturday 13 April

May - Antarctic Animals

Waddle like a penguin, clap like a seal and jump like a Humpback whale with your character guide through the Elysium Epic exhibition to learn about antarctic animals. Enjoy storytime, games and songs, make a penguin puppet or a painted seal to take home. Tuesdays 7, 14, 21, 28 May and Saturday 11 May
