UBS, the leading Swiss global financial services company, announced their sponsorship deal with the Jersey Regatta 2013. The 15th edition of Jersey Regatta will run from September 13 to 15, inviting cruise, dayboat, sports boat, catamaran, and dinghy classes racers to participate in the three-day event.
The organisers of the combined yacht clubs’ Jersey Regatta are delighted to announce that the Island’s flagship sailing event is to be sponsored by UBS in 2013.
The fourteenth Regatta, held in September, saw well over one hundred boats competing in what was the most successful Regatta ever. In welcoming the new sponsor on board, Regatta chairman Bill Harris said: ‘The arrival of UBS on the Island’s sailing scene is an exciting development and one that is certain to see this leading Channel Islands event continue to flourish both locally and nationally. In picking up the baton, UBS is joining a distinguished list of companies that have provided brilliant support to the Regatta since 1999 when the Royal Channel Islands YC, St Helier YC and St Catherine’s SC joined forces to produce the first Jersey Regatta.’
Scheduled for 13th-15th September, the Jersey Regatta takes place off the south coast of the Island and is scheduled to provide three days of racing for cruiser, sportsboat, dayboat, sport catamaran and dinghy classes, coupled with a lively social programme ashore. The Island’s sailing community will be out in force, with sailors aged from 8 to 80+, to pit their wits and sailing skills against competitors from the neighbouring Channel Islands, the UK and France.
Tom Hill, CEO of UBS Jersey, is already looking forward to the Regatta. ‘UBS is delighted to support this prestigious event which is an important component of Jersey's sporting calendar.’
The Regatta is open to all-comers with visiting boats being assured of a very warm welcome and plenty of opportunity to immerse themselves in the local sailing scene. Jersey Marinas, supporters since the very first Regatta, provide complimentary berthing for competitors during Regatta week. Jersey Tourism is ever-ready to provide advice and assistance to those in need of accommodation during what will be a very busy period in the Island’s life.
