Sail-World.com : US Sailing's message regarding Hurricane Sandy Relief
US Sailing's message regarding Hurricane Sandy Relief

It has been over a month since Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast, and many people in the region and surrounding areas have experienced devastating losses. More than 100 sailing organizations have sustained damaging effects to their property as a result of the hurricane.

US Sailing is working to support the rebuilding efforts of these clubs and sailing organizations impacted by Hurricane Sandy. US Sailing has established an online resource center to provide useful information to the organizations that have experienced significant damage to their facilities, equipment, and boats. The rebuilding resource website can be visited at http://home.ussailing.org/HurricaneResource.htm. US Sailing has also appointed a staff member in the Membership Department to be the point of contact for their hurricane support efforts.

US Sailing wants to connect those that are interested in supporting the recovery efforts with those that need help overcoming these challenges as they begin to plan rebuilding their facilities and programs. More specifically, there is urgency in getting youth programs back up and running for next season.

The marine industry is in a position to provide the critical products and services to help support these efforts. US Sailing would like to encourage you to get involved, and to help connect you with these sailing organizations in need. Currently, a detailed list of what these specific needs are does not exist, but we can communicate ways in which you can help, and connect you to these organizations. You can help by offering information and expertise, special discounts, purchase plans and programs and even donations if appropriate.

Please contact Emily Massa (StormSupport@ussailing.org) to discuss how you would like to participate in this rebuilding effort.

Thank you in advance for any support and resources you are able to provide. Our goal is to help get these organizations back up and running, so young sailors are able to get out on the water next season.
