eyachts, the Australian importer for the Italian built Solaris, introduces the new Solaris ONE 42 to its line of luxury sailing yachts.
Solaris yachts have a reputation for building elegant and fast sailing yachts and according to eyachts Managing Director Peter Hrones, ‘The new 42 is typically Solaris and then some.’
The Solaris is an Ocean Racing Council (‘ORC’) cruiser racer suitable for leisure sailing as well as regattas. Hrones continues: ‘You can have the best of both worlds with this yacht. I really love the structural strength and stiffness of the Solaris combined with excellent performance and comfort. The solid, handmade construction will appeal to owners who know quality when they see it.’
The Solaris ONE 42 is designed by the world-renowned naval architect, Javier Soto Acebal. The overall styling and use of space for a 42 foot has been described as ‘impressive’. Solaris has added some unique features on ONE 42 such as custom inlaid teak hatches, a recessed integrated dodger that folds into the cabin top, and flush hinges on the anchor locker. All the fittings are stainless steel.
‘The large open stern design is a stand out feature on the ONE 42 because of the large space it creates for recreation as a bathing platform as well as easy access getting on or off the boat’, says Hrones. ‘Since all halyards and sheets run below the decks, it’s easy to move on deck and find large spaces for relaxing.’
The hull is built using a vacuum technique. By adding weight distribution devices, the four meter wide yacht only displaces 8.8 tons of water. High speed also comes from the efficiently designed underwater lines and the sail area of almost 100 square meters.
Solaris ONE 42 provides lots of living space below deck and contemporary chic Italian design. The high quality interior uses a choice of woods with semi-gloss varnish that accentuates the 8 foot saloon and u-shaped couch.
The interior layout offers three cabins, a master suite in the front with bathroom and two double cabins at the stern. The master suite boasts a large island bed and ample cupboard space. The larger than normal portholes give a sense of light and space that is not typical of a 40 footer.
A generous pantry with stove and refrigerator is located at starboard next to the staircase. According to the shipyard, the boat’s design allows cooking even during high seas.
Solaris ONE 42 hull number 1 left its boat yard in Aquileia, Italy to be exhibited in Amsterdam and Southampton for the European boat shows this past September. 6 boats have already been sold in Europe. Hull number 2 is currently under construction in Aquileia.
