International Etchells Class Queensland State Champs at Southport YC

Southport Yacht Club was host to the 2012 International Etchells Class Queensland State Championships with 20 entrants sailing in perfect Queensland conditions offshore of the beautiful Gold Coast beaches.
International sailor Mark Thornburrow from Hong Kong on ‘Racer X’ and his crew were first with a series score of eight points. Mathew Chew on ‘Generation XY’were second on 14 points and Melbourne skipper Chris Hampton sailing ‘Tango’, third on 20 points.
Skippers also travelling from as far as Western Australia, Raymond Smith on QLD chartered boat Where’s Wally who had an 11th, beaten by his brother Garry Smith on ‘Tusk’ just off the podium in fourth position.
