The 2012 Student Yachting World Cup is now in full swing! At La Rochelle, the first races have taken place, a leader is known and everybody will dispute him in order to be the next World Champion...

The first race has been the opportunity for everybody to take their boat in hand. At this game, the defending team proved their title wasn’t a blow dealt by fate. It got ahead everybody else. Their technical competence is not to be doubted anymore. Behind them, Ireland and Canada fought to complete the podium.

The second race started as the first interrogations were emerging: is Euromed Managment too strong? Is anyone capable of challenging them? As everybody was expecting them, this second windward leeward racecourse has been the perfect occasion for the Canadian crew to reveal its teamwork and to finish first. Ireland and Sweden have been able to follow the new leader and to get the second and third rank.

By the end of these two races, Ireland and Canada had a tie. The last race of the day and the first costal race was the best way to differentiate them. But everyone was aware of the importance of this last race, as it was also the first one counting for the AGPM trophy! Once again, the Canadian crew has struck a blow. This second victory on a raw has definitely placed Canada as a serious competitor for the title! But this race has also disclosed other crews, such as the University of Sydney. Despite a bad time in the first course, they managed to put right their organisation and hit the third place.

This day has been quite animated. As a first approach to their boat, many crews have been able to get the best they could. Even thought the Canadian University of Dalhousie has hit the top today, the way to the title is long. No doubt everybody will excel tomorrow to earn the most desired trophy and the World Champion Title.
