The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) has named its 2012 All-Academic Sailing Team. The 2012 All-Academic Sailing Team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the 2011 – 2012 academic year. A nominated sailor must have a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), junior or senior academic standing and they must be a key starter or reserve on a school’s sailing team. Each school is allowed three nominations. A seven-person committee comprised of representatives from each conference in the ICSA evaluates nominated sailors: Matthew Lindblad-NEISA, Kyle Eaton-NWICSA, Dan Thompson-MAISA, Jenn Hockema-MCSA, Stephen Davis-SAISA, Rachel Ellis-SEISA and John Vandemoer-PCCSC. The committee uses the same competition data that is used to determine the ICSA All-American Team, which honors sailors for their exceptional competitive performance. The committee can select up to ten scholar athletes for both the First and Second All-Academic Teams. This year, for the first time, the committee has also named an All-Conference Team. This team recognizes other exemplary sailors who are also great representatives, but were not able to be included on the First or Second Teams. This year’s All-Academic Team is comprised of nine First Team members, ten Second Team members and 16 All-Conference members. 'This year's selections are an excellent representation of the achievements on the water and in the classroom. Eight of the team members also received a form of All-American recognition and most were competitive at the highest levels of collegiate sailing competition,' says Matt Lindblad, co-head coach of the MIT Varsity Sailing Team and chairman of the ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team Selection Committee. 2012 ICSA First All-Academic Sailing Team: (Name, Hometown, School, Year, Major, GPA) Emily Dellenbaugh (Easton, Conn.) – Brown University ’12, Psychology, 3.79 Margot Elmaleh (Brooklyn, N.Y.) – Brown University ’12, Neuroscience, 3.96 Alexandra Jumper (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) – Harvard University ’12, History, 3.89 Brendan Kopp (Fairfield, Conn.) – Harvard University ’12, Government, 3.82 Emily Massa (Barrington, R.I.) – Boston College ’12, Human Development, 3.87 Emily Reich (Chicago, Ill.) – Old Dominion University ’12, Recreation and Tourism Studies, 3.86 Andrew Sommer (Cambridge, Mass.) – Massachusetts Institute of Technology ’13, Mechanical Engineering, 4.0 Sam Stokes (Norfolk, Va.) – College of Charleston ’12, Physical Education, 3.74 Stephanie Tong (New York, N.Y.) – Massachusetts Institute of Technology ’12, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, 3.76 2012 ICSA Second All-Academic Sailing Team: (Name, Hometown, School, Year, Major, GPA) Jason Carminati (Youngstown, N.Y.) – United States Naval Academy ’12, Physics, 3.72 Colin Feik (Arlington, Texas) – Texas A&M University ’12, Petroleum Engineering, 3.94 Molly Forbes (Madison, Wis.) – University of Wisconsin – Madison ’12, Political Science, 3.76 Eamon Glackin (Cambridge, Mass.) – Massachusetts Institute of Technology ’12, Mathematics and Management Science, 3.76 Amanda Hamlet (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) – United States Coast Guard Academy ’12, Mechanical Engineering, 3.84 Gordon Lamphere (Lake Forest, Ill.) – St. Mary’s College of Maryland ’12, Political Science, 3.88 Erica Leinmiller (Annapolis, Md.) – United States Naval Academy ’13, English, 3.93 Jessica Milligan (Winston Salem, N.C.) – Old Dominion University ’12, Exercise Science, 3.91 Chandler Salisbury (Lakewood, Ohio) – Dartmouth College ’12, Government, French Studies, 3.77 Collin Weston (Galveston, Texas) – Texas A&M University at Galveston ’12, Maritime Systems Engineering, 3.87 2012 ICSA All-Conference All-Academic Sailing Team: (Name, Hometown, School, Year, Major) Rachel Barch (Ann Arbor, Mich.) – University of Michigan ’12, Industrial and Operations Engineering Margot Benedict (Shaftsbury, Vt.) – Yale University ’12, Political Science Ben Berg (Edina, Minn.) – Bowdoin College ’12, Neuroscience Katherine Canty (Vero Beach, Fla.) – Georgetown University ’12, Biology Molly Clarke (Cumberland, R.I.) – Boston College ’13, Biology Jeff Goodrich (Brighton, Mass.) – Bowdoin College ’12, Economics Matthew Graham (Ann Arbor, Mich.) – University of Michigan ’13, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Catherine Hamman (Carbondale, Ill.) – Eckerd College ’12, Business Administration Zeke Horowitz (Sarasota, Fla.) – College of Charleston ’12, Business Administration Jocelynn Knudsen (Missoula, Mont.) – Unites States Naval Academy ’13, Political Science Dillon Pavia (Raleigh, N.C.) – Old Dominion University ’13, English Kelsey Rupp (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) – University of Southern California ’12, Neuroscience Colin Smith (Ft.
