Port Dalrymple Yacht Club was a hive of action where junior sailors congregated for a weekend of training and racing at Beauty Point. Sailors were joined by a specialised Interstate coach and local coaches from the club. This weekend at PDYC will see club sailors continue their training in preparation for the National championships in Brighton Victoria late December.

Last Saturday saw the opening race of the Project and Maintenance Engineering offshore series. The race Division 1 and 2 races were held in near perfect conditions for an out and return to a turn point off Port Sorell, with all yachts making short work of the near 30 nautical mile course in just over five hours.

In a close finish Andrew Jones’s AdvantEdge beat Dave Allan’s Obsession by less than one minute on corrected time, with Allusive sailed by John Joyce 50 seconds back in third. Pete Haworth in Pouge Mahone was never challenged, easily taking Division 2 honors.
