'2012 RS100 Inland Championships at Grafham'

Flying in the face of a pitiful forecast for 0–3, knots of breeze for the weekend. Nine RS100s from as far as South Devon and North Wales made it to the start line at Grafham Water Sailing Club for the Inland Championships. Sadly, the forecasters were spot on this time with breeze ranging from zero, to marginally more!
Alex Morrison proved little guys weren’t going to have it all their own way by winning Race 1 from Andrew Wilson and Greg Booth. Race 2 saw Chris Larr disappear over the horizon in the puffy unstable breeze from Huw Powell in second and Alex in third. With a big right shift, Race 3 became a one way street both uphill and down leaving no passing places; Chris won from Alex and Andrew.
Sunday morning was foggy with little promise of significant breeze, allowing overnight leader Alex to wonder whether the title was his… Surprising most of the 100 fleet, the Race Office then sent the fleet afloat in a dying breeze. Lap 2 of Race 4 was ‘raced’ in almost zero breeze with boats barely moving through the water. Alex saw the writing on the wall early and retired from third place with Andrew winning from Chris and Greg. Races 5 and 6 were abandoned leaving Chris to be crowned 2012 Inland Champion.
